Doctor Who letters
The following are some fantastic responses from Cobham Primary School to the question:
‘If you had a Tardis and could travel to any time or place on Earth, either in the past or in the future, where would you go?’
Dear Editor
If I was lucky enough to step into a Tardis and travel anywhere in time, I would love to go back to see the pre-historic dinosaurs. See how they were created, how they are born, how tall they were, what they ate and how they fought each other. It would be great to see their habitat and the enormous green fields where a 20 foot fierce, meat eating T Rex would have stomped.
I could imaging stepping out of the Tardis into a giant dinosaur footprint 6 times the size of me! Wow. Climbing out to discover the powerful Theruzinosaurus with its huge claws ready to kill you and squeeze you tight. It would be a fantastic experience to fly on the back of a pterodactyl as it swoops through the air and looks for its prey to rip up with its long jaw and razor sharp teeth. On my adventure I would love to see a dinosaur egg hatch in front of my eyes and look at a baby dinosaur just born. I would look after it and see how it grows, what it eats and how big it can get.
Finally, I would love to know why dinosaurs became extinct? Also what was the last standing dinosaur to live? Such a shame that they died out, it would be great if they were still alive in the modern world now. Are they still living in the form of big birds or other creatures? On my way back to the Tardis with tears rolling down my cheeks, it would also be fantastic to bring back a dead dinosaur’s fossil. I can then study it and treasure it for the rest of my life.

If I had a Tardis I would travel to the year 3010 to see if anything has changed and if they still have schools. The reason I would like to go to the future is so that I can spend a day there and experience what life would be like. Also I would like to see if global warming has had an effect in the future. If global warming did have an effect in the future I would go back to our time now and encourage people to save the environment.
I have other reasons why I would like to go to 3010 such as I would see if they have new gadgets and taste for food. (If they eat proper food) If I could take anyone to the future it would be my friends. Also I would like to see if my house is still standing and if any animals are extinct. It would be cool if there are new breeds of flowers or animals. I would invent an animal cross between a dog and a cat.
Another reason why is because I could travel the world and see if any important buildings are knocked down like the Houses of Parliament or Buckingham Palace. It would be cool to put a time capsule in the ground so if anyone dug it up they would know I was from the past and came to the future. Back to food, if no-one in the future knew about the food we have I would bring food to the future like chocolate and sweets etc and let them taste it.
All in all I would really enjoy going to the future and to travel in the Tardis with my friends. I might get a bit travel sick but at least I’d be in the future. My main concern is if global warming has had an effect in the future and if all the ice has melted and we were under water.

The time I would like to go to is the year 1743. This is because I would like to meet Ludwig Van Beethoven. The reason I would like to meet him is that I play the piano and so did he. Beethoven is a genius.
I would love to see him play. The piece I would like him to play is Moonlight Sonata. It is my favourite piece.
That is why I want to go to the year 1743

I would go to the year 2960, planet Earth. This is because I would want to see if humans had managed to bring global warming to an end. I would visit the North Pole, England and the Great Barrier Reef to find out.
My T.A.R.D.I.S and I would visit England first to see if scientists were right about the 50C summer London is supposed to have. I would visit Big Ben to see if it was in ruins or not and see the Houses of Parliament. Plus I would see if J K Rowling’s Harry Potter books had become classics.
Next I would go to the Great Barrier Reef. I would dive into the water, in professional diving gear, with an underwater video camera. I would video the reef if it was still intact. The film would be a reassurance when I got home that the future is bright and still as it is today. But I would wonder if the reef had help from humans preserving its beautiful form.
Last but not least, I would visit the North Pole. I would see whether it had melted or was still a giant, snowy freezer. It sounds silly but I would probably look at the way penguins live in their home and whether their behaviour patterns had changed.
Of course, my adventure will never happen if we carry on treating the Earth the way we do. We need to start taking care of the world we live in. Do as much as you can to save energy – even if it’s switching off the light in an empty room, it’s still helping. Recycle instead of just throwing away. You can help save the Earth. Maybe one day we’ll all have magnificent adventures.

If I could travel to the past or the future I would go to the future and see all the new games and clothes and cars. I would go to a place where people invent things. While they work I will write down how to make it. Then I would go back home and make it myself. I would make a lazer gun and be a world famous inventor to help the world.
I would help the world by making cures for deadly diseases like cancer. I would also go there to be a hero. I would go to the future to find out if anything bad happens then go back and prevent it from happening.
